Dry clean me a river
I have a huge pile of shirts to iron. I thought washing dishes was my least favorite chore, but now that I think about it, it's definitely ironing. For one, I'm not very good at ironing. I can work on one shirt for over five minutes, and there are still a few little wrinkles in it. When I go over those, more seem to pop up somewhere else.
Some people just take wrinkle-prone clothes, particularly shirts, to the dry cleaners. Have you seen how expensive dry cleaners are now? It's outrageous! There used to be a place on Eastern Parkway and Bardstown Road here in Louisville called $1.75 Cleaners. Now it's called $3.25 Cleaners. The price nearly doubled in under four years. Why is hyperinflation occurring in the dry cleaning market? Have all of those home dry cleaning products, e.g., Dry Cleaners Secret, put the pinch on business at the cleaners'?
So I'm stuck at home ironing because I refuse to pay $3.25 or more to basically have a shirt pressed. There's no need for them to "clean" these things that can be washed at home but they just look somewhat sloppy without a professional pressing and starching.

I prefer steaming. I want a big professional steam machine--you can get one that's really nice at Hancock's for under $100. I have a small travel sized one that I really like. For me, though, I just buy clothing that doesn't require ironing--I spritz with water or hang near the steamy shower for most things. Dave irons his own clothes for work--I wash them and put them away, it's the least he can do. ;)
